Hugh Paia, son of Willie G. Paia (q.v.) was a student from King George VI School (q.v.), attended Te Aute College in New Zealand for five years, passed his Cambridge School Certificate, and went to Ardmore Teachers' Training College, also in New Zealand. In 1966 he was selected to be a member of the BSIP team at the South Pacific Games. Hugh Paia became a senior public servant and was for a period in the 1970s Director of the University of the South Pacific (USP) Centre in Honiara. (NS Feb. 1958, 31 Jan. 1963, 11 Aug. 1966)
