Biographical entry: Iromea, Paul

Paul Iromea was a Police Sergeant who became head of the Auki police after the previous senior officers Steven Sipolo (q.v.) and Eban Funusau (or Sau) were dismissed in 1947 for reasons related to Maasina Rule (q.v.). He retired in 1949 and later became District Headman in Baegu and Court President in East Baegu. After that Iromea became a government-nominated member of the first Malaita Council (q.v.). He was the father of Sir Fred Osifelo (q.v.). (David Akin, personal communication, 5 Jan. 2010; Osifelo 1985)
