Details

Bera was a famous warrior chief on Isabel in the mid-nineteenth century who fought against the headhunting raids from New Georgia. When the Melanesian Mission was established at Nuro in 1875 he opposed the school and placed a taboo over it. He died in 1883, succeeded by Soga (q.v.). (Fox 1958, 196)
