Corporate entry: Megapode Airways Ltd

Details

In October 1961 Capt. M. Lewis and P. Bennett arrived in Honiara to investigate starting an internal air service. This eventuated in late 1963 when Captain Laurie Crowley purchased a Series Six De Havilland Dove aircraft that had been a VIP plane at Australia's Woomera Rocket range. He operated this as Crowley Airways Pty. And within the Protectorate as Megapode Airways Ltd. By 1966, Megapode had three pilots, Crowley, Harry Moss and Bill Neale, and had extended scheduled flights to Avuavu on Guadalcanal's Weathercoast.
