Biographical entry: Vuria, Wilson

Just before the Second World War began, Wilson Vuria was among a group of the first eight Solomon Islanders to be sent overseas for agricultural training, at Rabaul. The Japanese interned the group and five of them were killed. Vuria was released in 1945 along with Abed Niri. In 1947 he was promoted to Field Assistant Grade Three and in 1952 to Field Assistant Grade A. He became an Agricultural Assistant in 1962, and in 1966 was promoted to Field Officer. (NS June 1966)
