Seventh-day Adventist Pastor Kata Ragoso from Marovo Lagoon, New Georgia, was one of that church's indigenous leaders. In 1936, he was a delegate to the Adventist World Conference in San Francisco, and paid several other visits to United States. During the war he organized the rescue of twenty-seven American airmen who had been shot down and 180 New Zealand seamen. He was involved in translating the Bible into the Marovo language, a task that took several years in the 1940s. (PIM Mar. 1951)
