Details
Born about 1903, Moa was one of three men who brought Christianity to Rennell Island in 1938. The first missionaries who went to Rennell and Bellona in 1910 were killed. In 1934, some boys and men from Rennell, Moa among them, were sent away to mission schools. In 1938, when the mission-educated men returned and threatened the indigenous religion, there was an outbreak of violence and killings. Moa and others established mission schools on the island. He died in Honiara's Central Hospital on 3 September 1963. (NS 15 Sept. 1963)
