John Holloway was born in India in 1932 and educated at the Royal Military School there. He served for eleven years as a policeman in Zambia before transferring to the Solomon Islands in 1964. He was appointed Police Commissioner in 1975. He holds the Colonial Police Medal, received an O.B.E. in 1977, and was the founding Secretary of the Society for Crippled People in the Solomons.
