Gwen Gardner Davies came to the Solomon Islands as a missionary for the SSEM in 1944, and served on Malaita and Makira. After six months leave in early 1967, she returned as the SSEC's Director of Education. She received an M.B.E. in 1967. (NS 21 June 1967)
