Benjamin Anelau was born in 1919 on Isabel Island and educated at St. Mary's School at Maravovo (q.v.), Guadalcanal, and at All Hallows' School at Pawa (q.v.), on Ugi. He served with the Melanesian Brothers for two years on Malaita, and then taught at Alangaula School, Ugi, for six years. He then returned home to Isabel and served for many years on the Ysabel Education Committee and with the Ysabel Church Association. Married with a family, in 1969 he was awarded the WHPC Certificate and Badge of Honour. (NS 15 June 1969)
