Party: Youth Organisations

Details

Protectorate youth organisations were mainly based at schools. At the end of 1966 there were twenty-two Boy Scout troops, twelve Girl Guide companies and ten Brownie packs. In December, three Queen's Scouts attended a Corroboree held near Adelaide, South Australia. South Australia-based units of the Boys' Brigade and the Girls' Life Brigade were centred in the Methodist Church in the Western Solomons and the South Sea Evangelical Mission in Honiara and on Malaita. The Seventh-day Adventist Mission had established 144 Youth Societies with a total membership of more than four thousand. (AR 1966, 51)
