Cultural Artefact: Solomon Islands National Anthem

In 1976, there was a competition to find a suitable National Anthem. Cabinet chose one written by a Fijian naturalised Solomon Islander, Panapasa Balekana, for which he received an M.B.E. (SND 29 Oct. 1976)

God save our Solomon Islands from shore to shore.
Bless all her people and her Lands
With your protecting hands.
Joy, Peace, Progress and Prosperity;
That men should brothers be, make nations see.
Our Solomon Islands, Our Solomon Islands,
Our Nation, Solomon Islands,
Stands for evermore.
