Corporate entry: Makira Council
Details
The first meeting of the fully-elected San Cristobal (Makira) Council took place from 23-26 October 1964, in the new Council Hall at Humou, with Jack Campbell (q.v.) (son of Frederick Campbell, [q.v.]) as President and J. S. Sunaone a Vice-President. In 1972, a road was being pushed through to Kaonasugu about twenty-four kilometres from Kirakira, which improved the ability of villagers to bring garden produce to market.
