Belama (meaning Frigate bird) was the name given to a series of small steamers used by the Resident Commissioners and High Commissioners, beginning with Charles Woodford. One of these was wrecked on Isabel in 1921. Another ran aground at Rere Point, east Guadalcanal in June 1975. (AR 1922-1923, 6; SND 12 June 1975; Horton 1965, 49)
